DIFFRACTIVE OPTICAL ELEMENTS

Coherent light of point sources (LASER) can be diffracted at regular grids and microstructures in such a way that almost any kind of diffraction images can be produced. These structures are therefore often called Diffractive Optical Elements (DOEs).

The patterns produced this way can be dot or line patterns, for example, but also circles, crosses or other geometrical shapes as well as images or logos. The required shape is defined by the optical design of the microstructure.

DIFFRACTIVE OPTICAL ELEMENTS

A distinction is made between absorption grating and phase grating. While the absorptive grating absorbs part of the light which is therefore not available for further use, phase gratings do not feature such disadvantage. CDA produces phase gratings exclusively to guarantee maximum efficiency of the application. 
As a special feature CDA can provide the DOEs with a reflecting surface to make them suitable for use in reflective operation.
